Febrile neutropenia (FN)
FN is a life-threatening complication of cancer chemotherapy. The classical aproach is hospitalize patients to administer broad-spectrum antibiotics intravenously. Most patients respond promptly with no complications.
The MASCC Risk Index is a scoring system for identifying low-risk cancer patients with febrile neutropenia. It could be useful to select patients for testing more convenient or cost-effective therapies.
